David Howard Anderson,
age 65, passed away Thursday August 14, 2008
at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was
born February 17, 1943, the son of John and
Mary (Wolfe) Anderson, in Evansville.
David was a 1961 graduate
of New Harmony High School. After
graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy,
serving one year at the Navel Air Station at
Memphis, Tennessee, and two years at several
naval bases on the east coast and in the
Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS Grand
Canyon. After his discharge, he returned to
Indiana and went to work at Farm Bureau
Refinery (Countrymark, Inc.). He retired in
2004 after 39 years of service as a products
pipeline dispatcher. He was a member of St.
Paul’s United Church of Christ in
Evansville. He was a member of the Western
Hills Country Club and the American Legion
Owen Dunn Post #5, both of Mount Vernon,
Indiana, and enjoyed golfing, gardening, and
traveling.
He was preceded in death
by his father in 1976, his mother in 2005,
and his stepfather Bill Hein in 1988.
He is survived by his
wife of 32 years of marriage, Mary (Crews)
Anderson of Mount Vernon, his three
stepdaughters Brandi Scheller and her
husband Steve of Evansville, Julie Miller
and her husband Don of Greenfield, and Lori
Trapp and her husband Chad of Greenfield;
his brother Jerry Anderson and his wife
Deloris of Fort Branch; his two sisters;
Tammy Hoehn and her husband Charles of New
Harmony; and Cheryl Meyer and her husband
Rick of Fort Branch; eleven grandchildren
Taylor Robinson, Gage Scheller, Grant
Scheller, Jacob Ferrell, Sidney Miller,
Brandi Freeman, McKenzie Miller, Connor
Trapp, Madelyn Trapp, Kennedy Trapp, and
Kambell Trapp; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service was held
at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 18, 2008 at St.
Paul’s United Church of Christ, 2227 W.
Michigan St. Evansville, IN with Rev. Lynn
Marino officiating and burial with military
rites at Old Beech Cemetery.

Florence Lillian (Beste)
Rowe, 93, of Mount Vernon, passed away on
Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Deaconess Hospice
Care Center. She was born August 9, 1914,
the youngest daughter of the late Fred and
Emma (Roos) Beste of Point Township.
Florence was a 1932
graduate of Mount Vernon High School. During
her youth, she played the violin in the
church orchestra at Zoar United Methodist
Church. As a loving wife, she and her
husband of 68 years, Norman Dalton Rowe,
enjoyed traveling the United States, and
spent their winters in Florida after his
retirement. She was a long time member of
First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed
gardening, preparing delicious meals,
playing the piano, and spending time with
her children, grandchildren, brothers,
sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Norman , in 2004. She was
also preceded in death by two sisters, Clara
Porter and Mary Schmidt, three brothers,
Alfred, Fred, and Ed Beste, a daughter,
Dolores Ann, and a daughter-in-law, Sandy
Rowe.
Florence is survived by
two sons, Stephen of Kennewick, WA, Norman
Wayne and wife, Judy, of Bremen , IN , two
daughters, Sharon Barbarette of Mount
Vernon, IN and Rita Thompson and husband,
Larry, of Freeville, NY; and 11
grandchildren, Mark, Sarah, Colton and
Alisha Rowe, Jeff and Dan Rowe, Lori
Newcomb, Tami Newcomb Stark, T.J. Barbarette,
and Trevor and Hannah French; and nieces and
nephews. She is also survived by her
husband’s sisters, Juanita Adams and
Marjorie Holtzmeier.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7, at
Schneider Funeral Home in Mount Vernon,
burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Lucy Ellen Meuth, 69, of
Wadesville, Indiana, passed away at her
home, Saturday, August 16, 2008, surrounded
by the love of her family.
She was born the second
of three children to Jesse and Dorcas (Rice)
Williams of Wadesville whom preceded her in
death. She was a 1956 graduate of Wadesville
High School and loved to read and collect
books, but, her favorite pastime was being
with her grandchildren.
Lucy is survived by her
loving husband of 49 years, Bill Meuth;
three children: a son Richard Lee Meuth and
his wife Holly of Tallahassee, Florida,
daughters Mary Jane Coleman of Wadesville,
Indiana and Jenny Lou Meuth of Evansville,
Indiana, a brother Richard Williams of
Evansville, Indiana, a sister Barbara
Williams of Mayfield, Kentucky, and 10
Grandchildren. She was looking forward to
the birth of her first great grandchild in
November.
Funeral services will be 10:00AM,
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Werry
Funeral Home, Poseyville Chapel with burial
to follow at the St. Peters United Church of
Christ Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev.
Paul Cundiff. Friends may call from 4-8PM,
Monday, August 18, 2008 at the funeral home. |

Charles W. Williams, 82,
of Wadesville, died August 15, 2008. He was
born September 25, 1925.
He was a lifetime member
of Old Beech Church in Springfield and
recently attended Mount Zion General Baptist
Church. He was a former member of Western
Hills Country Club and the Elks Club in
Mount Vernon. He loved golf, bowling,
baseball and basketball.
He is survived by his
wife, Ann Alumbaugh Williams, of Wadesville;
sons, Charles Wayne (Sharon) Williams of
Litchfield, Ky., Dennis (Angie) Williams of
Oklahoma City, Okla., Vincent Williams of
Palm Springs, Calif., and Kenny Williams of
Evansville; stepson, William Douglas
(Heather) Alumbaugh of Mount Vernon;
stepdaughters, Cyndi Cates of Evansville,
Sue Anne Schrode of SeBree, Ky.;
granddaughters, Jennifer Williams and
Heather Williams; grandsons, Jeff Williams
and Wesley Williams; five stepgrandchildren;
five stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Ora
Williams of New Harmony; and sisters, Ethel
Korff of Darmstadt, and Mary Eisterhold of
Poseyville.
He was preceded in death
by father, Vincent I. Williams; mother, Elva
Williams; and brother, Harvey Williams.
Funeral service was 10
a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, at Werry
Funeral Home, Poseyville Chapel in
Poseyville, the Rev. Rick Sellers
officiating. Visitation was yesterday,
August 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment was
Monday in Old Beech Cemetery in Springfield. |

Joseph "Joe" Bender
passed away August 16, 2008 at the
Transcendent Health Care Facility in
Owensville at the age of 86. Joe was called
to his heavenly reward after a several month
illness.
Joe was a life long
farmer in the Owensville area. He enjoyed
simple things such as watching the crops
grow and the planting of a simple tree. Joe
was known for his sense of humor and big
smile. Always a smile and a tease for his
many nephews and nieces.
Joe was born on May 14,
1922 to Henry and Cecelia (Angermeier)
Bender who preceded him in death. Surviving
family members include his wife, Dorothy Mae
(Keil) Bender of 57 years. Three sisters:
Virginia Beuligmann, Carolyn Blankenberger,
and Mary Davis and three brothers, Fred,
Harold and James Bender. Many nieces and
nephews also survive him. Joe was preceded
in death by two brothers: Benny and Ivan
Bender.
Joe has been a life long
member of St. Francis Catholic Church in
Poseyville. He practiced his strong faith
daily. The last part of Joe’s earthly
journey will be held in his beloved church.
Amass of Catholic Christian burial will be
on Wednesday, August 20 at St. Francis
Catholic Church in Poseyville with
visitation starting at 9 a.m. until service
time at 10 a.m. at the church. Visitation
will also be held at Werry Funeral Home,
Poseyville Chapel today, August 19, from
3-8pm with the rosary at 2:30 p.m.

Joe’s family would like
to thank Father Tony Eurest, Father Ed
Schnur, Sister Leta Zeller for their
kindness and prayers in his last days with
us. Thanks also to the staff at Transcendent
Health Care for the kindness and compassion
