George Lewis

George Edwin Lewis, 82, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on January 21, 1932 in Posey County, Ind., to Hartley and Daisy (Maxey) Lewis.
George served in the Korean War working on B36 Bombers. He was President of The Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Association for the State of Indiana. George was a member of the Lions Club, American Veterans Association, and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and flying.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon (Hisch) Lewis; daughters, Connie (Jim) Joyce of Atlanta, Ga., and Terri Lewis of Mount Vernon, Ind.; son, Gregory (Debbie) Lewis of Mount Vernon, Ind.; sisters, Oona and Carmen; brother, Hermus ‘Moose’ Lewis; five grandchildren, Kim Watson, Sean Joyce, Jason Lewis, Scott Lewis, and Jeremy Hall; seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon with Rev. Wayne Perkins officiating and burial to follow in Calvin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
