Evansville Central High School was the site for the ISSMA Marching Band Open Class Regional competition for Class D and Class C bands. Twenty- six bands took the field to perform what could possibly be their last show of the season. Only the top 10 bands in each class would advance to Semi State on November 1. Each band would be judged on three different categories in Music and Visual: Music Individual, Music Ensemble, Music Effect, Visual Individual, Visual Ensemble, and Visual Effect, in hopes of receiving a Gold rating. At the awards ceremony each band was told in performance order whether they received a gold, silver or bronze rating. Then the top ten bands were announced, again, in performance order.
According to Indiana Marching.com here are the results in score order for Class D: First place Forest Park – Gold; second Springs Valley – Gold; third South Spencer – Gold; fourth Clay City – Gold; fifth Paoli – Gold; sixth Mater Dei – Gold; seventh Monrovia – Gold; eighth North Posey – Gold; ninth Crawford County – Gold; tenth Orleans – Silver; eleventh Tell City – Silver; twelfth Henryville – Silver; thirteenth Perry Central – Silver; and fourteenth Shawe Memorial – Bronze.
In Class C, again, according to Indiana Marching.com, the results were as follows: First place Edgewood – Gold; second Beech Grove – Gold; third Scottsburg – Gold; fourth Vincennes-Lincoln – Gold; fifth North Harrison – Gold; sixth Southridge – Gold; seventh Mount Vernon – Gold; eighth Pike Central – Gold; ninth Indian Creek – Gold; tenth Evansville Bosse – Gold; eleventh Owen Valley – Silver; and twelfth Reitz Memorial – Silver.
To keep the momentum going towards a successful Semi-State performance, both the North Posey Marching Vikings and the Mount Vernon Marching Wildcats will participate in the Drill on the Hill Invitational at F. J. Reitz on October 25. The show will start at 5:30 p.m.
