John Grannan

John Bartholomew Grannan Jr., 75, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014.
John received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Evansville, was a lifetime member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, was in the Army and Air Force Reserves and was a member Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
He always loved to read and liked to be fully informed of what was happening, and everyone always knew that there was right way, a wrong way and the John Grannan way. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, whom never met a stranger.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Grannan Sr., and Miranda Schmidt Grannan, Brother George Grannan, and niece, Kali Grannan.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Rice Grannan; daughter, Anna (Bob) McPeak, son, John B. ‘John John’ Grannan III, daughter, Roberta (Bobby) Lackey; grandchildren, Jacob McPeak and Emily McPeak; brothers, Stephen (Carol) Grannan of Evansville, Ind., Paul (Cathy) Grannan of Newburgh, Ind., and Robert (Debra) Grannan of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Maryann (Mike) Dunbar of Evansville, Ind.; sister-in-law, Jean Rice, brother-in-law, Robert Rice; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; loving devoted dog, Brownie and cat, Molly.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 4, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father David Carter officiating.
Visitation was on Sunday, August 3, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Human Educational Society of Chattanooga, Chattanooga Downs Syndrome Society or fundrazr.com for the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Advantage Funeral Cremation Services, Franklin Strickland Pinkard, Bryan Smith Funeral Directors.
