Eloise Pfister, 100, of New Harmony, Indiana born August 31, 1913, to Louis W. and Maude Sanders Barnett in Griffin, Ind.
She married Alfred Pfister on December 26, 1932 and lived with him on their farm near New Harmony until he died in 1999. At that time she moved to Holiday Retirement Village and lived there until June of this year when she moved back to New Harmony.
She had been active member of several organizations in New Harmony: Tri Kappa, Posey County Extension Homemakers, Harmonie Associates and Holy Angels Catholic Church.
She is survived by one son: James Pfister (Mary Jane) of Evansville, Indiana and a daughter: Ann Scarafia (Robert) of New Harmony, Ind., along with 15 grandchildren: Tom, Mark, Susan and Jim Scarafia; Greg, John, Alex, Richard, Daniel and Chris Pfister; Lisa Williams, Ellen Wilderman, Tim and Mike Culiver and Dee Ann Wylam, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred, two sisters, Beulah Downen and Caroline Lamp, her youngest daughter, Phyllis Culiver, one grand daughter and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in New Harmony, Ind., with burial in St. Francis Cemetery near Poseyville, Ind.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Werry Funeral Home, 615 Brewery Street, New Harmony, Ind., from 4 until 7 p.m., with a Rosary and Memorial service at 7 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the caring staffs of Holiday Village, New Harmonie Healthcare, Deaconess Hospital, Deaconess VNA Hospice and special friends, Jeanne Kelly and Mary Ellen Hassenmeyer.
