Winifred ‘Sue’ Martin, age 72, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus.
Sue had worked as a waitress for both the Red Geranium and F’s Steakhouse. She enjoyed working with people and had never met a stranger. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in New Harmony and the St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John in St. Wendel. Sue also loved to quilt, travel and watch birds. She had served as a Girl Scout Troop leader and as a Posey County 4H leader. Sue also dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving Sue are her husband of 53 years, Ronald Martin; two daughters, Danni (David) Puckett of New Harmony and Angela Martin of Mount Vernon; one son, Charles Martin of Evansville; two sisters, Betty Orth of St. Wendel and Judy Streetman of Darmstadt; three brothers, Charles Schultheis of Brookville, Fla., Ed Schultheis of Warrenton, Ind., and David Schultheis of West Lafayette, Ind., and five grandchildren, Nicole, Sarah and Austin Puckett, Gareth Martin and Jacob Purdue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred Schultheis and Marjorie (Nicholson) Hayden; an infant daughter, Catherine Martin and two brothers, Warren and Robert Schultheis.
According to Sue’s wishes a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
