Kenley D. Kauffman, 47, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at his home. He was born on March 17, 1967, in Evansville, Indiana.
Kenley was a member and Deacon at East Side Christian Church in Evansville.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Conservation Club.
Kenley was very active in Special Olympics-Vanderburgh County. He was proud to be named ‘Athlete of the Year’ in 2004. He participated in the Athlete outreach Workshop in 1991. Kenley also went to the International Games in Baton Rouge, La., in 1979.
He worked at the Mount Vernon Wesselman’s for 17 years and currently worked at the New Frontiers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Kauffman, Jr.; grandparents, Dr. H.M. and Vevia Kauffman and William and Iva Deer.
Kenley is survived by his mother, Bettye (Deer) Kauffman of Mount Vernon; sisters, Karlyn Eilert (Bruce) of Wilkesboro, NC, Sharlyn Martin (Mike) of Mount Vernon, and Jaclyn Kauffman of Evansville; nieces, Karissa Ormand (David) of Purlear, N. C., and Dacia Holcomb (Jamie) of Hamptonville, N. C.; nephew, Jeffrey Martin of Beech Grove, Ind., and niece, Lesa Amback (Eric) of Greenfield, Ind.; great nieces, Briana Eilert of Hamptonville, N. C., Lillian Amback of Greenfield, Ind., and Aubree Amback of Greenfield, Ind.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, at East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Drive in Evansville, officiated by Dr. David Livingston, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends visited Sunday, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel and Monday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Kenley’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Jacob’s Village and Bethesda Lutheran Ministries of Evansville.
