Edith Simmons

Edith (Liberti) Simmons, 97, of Mount Vernon, passed away July 19, 2014 at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mount Vernon. She was born September 27, 1916 in Gainesville, N. Y., to Albert and Mary (Whitacre) Dumbleton.
Edith worked in photography and was a Pink Lady volunteer at a hospital in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank Liberti (1967) and second husband, John Simmons (1992); five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Frank (Peggy) Liberti of Mount Vernon, Ind.; sister, Mary Garnham of Bergen, N. Y.; two grandchildren, Patricia Ann (Gordon) Green and Michael Francis Liberti; two great-grandchildren, Colton Daniel Green and Samuel Joseph Green; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon, IN 47620 with Fr. Jim Sauer officiating and burial to follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. service time on Saturday.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon Vogel, Dr. Matthew Lee, and Dr. Kyle Rapp for their care and concern.
