Betty Catherine Underwood, 59, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, born to William L. and Dorothy M. Brison Hillis on November 19, 1954, in Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Arizona.
After marrying her husband, Larry, they moved to Huber Heights, Ohio where they resided for 35 years. Betty retired in April 2011 after 34 years of service from the Department of Defense as an Intelligence Analyst with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. She was an active member of the Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott, Arizona.
After retirement, Betty and Larry moved from Huber Heights, Ohio to Prescott Valley, Arizona to be closer to the greatest joys in her life, her granddaughters, Addison and Ansley. Betty’s other two loves were her dogs Harley and Sugar that she enjoyed walking on the scenic paths around her neighborhood. Among Betty’s other activities she was involved with bible study and line dancing class, playing her piano, feeding the birds, tending to her flowers, hiking and riding her bicycle.
Surviving are her parents: William L. and Dorothy M. Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; husband of 40 years: Larry Steven Underwood of Prescott Valley, Arizona; sister: Debbie M. Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; two sons: Joseph R. (Elizabeth) Underwood of Phoenix, Arizona and William L. Underwood and Andrea Hauer of Cincinnati, Ohio; two granddaughters: Addison and Ansley Underwood both of Phoenix, Arizona; her mother-in-law, Irma L. Underwood of New Harmony, Indiana and her sister-in-law, Neva Hays of Evansville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Werry Funeral Home, 615 Brewery Street, New Harmony, Indiana with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wadesville, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 3 –7 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the funeral home.
