Robert Frederick Martin, 87, of Evansville, passed away July 11, 2014, at his home. He was born February 8, 1927, in Evansville, to the late George and Carrie (Huck) Martin.
Robert graduated from Indiana University where he earned his Bachelors and MBA. He taught at Mount Vernon High School from 1952-1956 and the University of Evansville from 1956-1986. He was a member of Beulah Masonic Lodge and the Hadi Shrine for over 50 years. He was also a member of Indiana Retired Educators and Posey County Retired Educators. Robert was a lifelong active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was Administrative Council Chairman and very dedicated to his church.
He was very generous and kind to everyone around him. He enjoyed traveling and loved being with his family.
Robert is preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Grossman) Martin; son, Duane Martin; daughter, Janet Weisling (Tim); grandchildren, Nathaniel and Noah Weisling all of Evansville; special nephew and niece, Jim and Becky Attebury; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5301 St. Phillips Road, officiated by Pastor Danny Barr and Pastor Randy Owens, with burial in St. Paul’s UMC Cemetery. Friends visited Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
