Mary Lou (Conrey) Phillips, 87, died on June 4, 2014, in Surprise, Ariz. She was born in Griffin, Ind., to Charles and Lelia (Kern) Conrey.
She was a graduate of Griffin High School. She married Elmer Phillips of Grayville, Ill., and lived in Carmi, Ill., until 1961 when he was transfered to Durango, Colo. They lived there several years where they were very active in the square dance club and loved traveling together. They moved to Casper, Wyo., and then to Sun City, Ariz., in 1977 upon Elmer’s retirement.
Mary Lou was an active member of the Sun City Christian Church and the Sun City Travel Trailer Club. Her love for travel included trips to Japan and Scandinavia with Seniors Abroad. She traveled extensively in the United States as well as New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, Jordan and Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; son, Thomas Alan Phillips, and brother, Wayne Conrey.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Charlene Dimacali of Durango; granddaughter, Melody Sutton; great-grandchildren Sarah and Thomas Sutton; sisters, Wilma Moore of Carmi, Mildred Wilson of Poseyville, Hildred Niemeier of Mount Vernon; a brother, Norman Conrey, of New Harmony and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per her request, her ashes will be buried in Grayville, Ill., alongside her husband Elmer.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
