Harold Turner

Harold (Jabo) Turner, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 12, 1936 in Posey County, Ind., to Ernest and Pearl (Jenkins) Turner.
Harold was a Korean War Veteran. He was an over the road truck driver for 25 years, and had worked at ADM Milling. Harold was a member of the American Legion Owen Dunn Post 5.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Penny Hamblin and Barbara Turner; two brothers, Curtis and Frank Turner; and his daughter Brenda.
Harold is survived by his wife of 26 years, Peggy (Bebout) Turner; three daughters, Kimberly Turner, Geri of South Dakota and Dana of California; three sons, Robert (Verna) Turner of Rosamond, California, Calvin (Wanda) Turner of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Jr. Turner of Bicknell, Ind.; three sisters, Gladys Whitfield, Nellie (Bob) Cox of New Harmony, Ind., and Barbara Turner of Destrehan, La.; one brother, Herman Turner of Lebanon, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Turner, Adam (Shauntae) Shutz, Marissa Turner, Misty (Jeff) Weir, Kyle Thompson, Dannelle Turner; six great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Weir Jr., Aarian Shutz, Daly Shutz, Vernon Shutz, Jessie Turner; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ariel Thompson and Noah Thompson.
Funeral Services were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Mount Vernon General Baptist Church, 1717 N. Main Street, Mount Vernon, I with Rev. Matt Watson and Rev. Curt Mort officiating and burial to follow in Mt. Zion General Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Turner family to help defray final expenses.
